Safari
Spring
2002
The
weather
was
great,
the
stalls
as
many
as
usual,
and
there
was
a
slight
whiff
of
kerosene
on
the
wind.
My
father
and
I
had
drove
600
kilometers
and
slept
in
the
car
over
the
night
just
to
be
early
at
the
market,
and
we
spent
at
least
5
hours
walking
blissfully
about
the
area.
Then
we
met
up
with
Ross
Mellows
and
Arne
Aasgaard,
and
later
was
shown
Arne's
vast
stove
collection
in
his
home.
Unfortunately
I'd
not
taken
extra
film
with
my
and
my
camera
went
out
of
business
much
too
early.
I
used
the
analog
video
camera
but
can't
digitize
that
bit
before
I
get
a
new
video
camera
for
my
computer.
Sorry
guys!

The
salesman
claimed
this
one
was
made
in
Norway.
Sadly,
I
didn't
write
up
the
text
on
paper
as
I
though
I'd
be
able
to
read
it
from
the
picture.

From
the
market.
Something
for
everybody!

More
goodies.

An
M-1950
to
the
left;
you
don't
see
a
lot
of
those
in
Scandinavia.

A
Svea
with
red
box
to
the
right.

Say,
wasn't
the
same
guy
selling
these
stoves
last
year
too?
I
think
I
recognise
that
red
car.

An
interesting
Radius
42.

Bliss.
To
the
right
behind
the
desk,
the
two
Swedes
that
come
each
year
with
the
market's
best
selection
of
parts.
In
the
middle
with
the
cap,
Arne
Aasgaard
on
the
hunt
for
something,
anything
he
doesn't
already
have.
To
the
left,Ross
Mellows
enjoying
himself.
To
the
EXTREME
left,
one
of
only
three
three-plate
Primus
stove
ovens
in
Norway
known
to
Arne.

Visiting
Arne
and
his
wife.
The
stoves
to
the
left
are
Ross'
catch,
those
to
the
right
are
some
Fuhrmeisters
etc.

Never
seen
one
like
this
before.
It's
a
Gustav
Barthel
Norma
ASHTRAY.

Is
it
a
handgrenade?
An
egg
cooker?
No,
it's
an
optional
Primus
alcohol
preheater
gadget.
You'll
be
very
lucky
to
ever
see
one
again.

Arne
Aasgard
with
one
of
the
jewels
in
his
selection.
The
stove
is
a
Primus,
but
the
box
is
stamped
with
'Christiania
Glassmagasin'
and
dated
pre
1900...
