Pifco

"This is an old English company from Manchester in England. PIFCO is the initials of the Provincial Incandescent Fittings Company. This company never actually made anything. All their product was bought in from other manufacturers and sold under the PIFCO brand. " - Neil McRae

They also branded lamps, heaters and hot plate racks for use with their stoves. All the information below is from their 1925-26 catalogue.

Check out this collection of Pifco products that seem to have everything but their stoves...: http://www.12testing.net/easy/pifco/

As a matter if fact, the brand name still seem to exist and be owned by Pifco Holdings Plc at http://www.hemscott.com/equities/

Pongrass

Australian brand, manufactured by Pongrass Industries among many other products.

ALEX/INDEX.HTM

These are excerpts from a letter from his son to the Stove Collector:

"...One of the many ventures entered into by my father was the Gas Pak range. I am sorry but I dont have any info left on the products...

...I do remember as a boy that Pongrass Industries picked up an invention from a chap called Davis of a portable 2 burner stove (Butane) and a custom tin gas bottle that had a solid rubber stopper possibly 1962?. A fitting was attached to the top of the tin "bottle" (same size as butane lighter refiller nowadays) and a needle pierced the rubber. This fitting could be detached and reattached but in practise if this was done a number of times a small leak could develop. After some years (say 8) the economics of Australian manufacture were not there and a Japanese supplier was found. The valve and bottle attachment were changed and the bottle now resembled a typicale lighter refiller can with the same pressure activated valve. A knob ouside this fitting controlled the gas flow. After some years the business was either sold or wound up (I cant remember).Well that's testing my memory, but as a child I had fun playing with these things! Best regards ... Les Pongrass

Model: Primas Royal King
Fuel: kerosene
"The meths bowls (preheat bowls) was made of steel and completely rusted away. These bowls I made, & is not original. The flame spreaders is not original. It was in a BAD state when I picked it up from a scrap metal dealer. I had to take the bottom completely off for panel beating, solder the 4 riser tubes back in, make up all new pick up tubes inside the tank then solder the bottom back in.
Anyway it has been all repaired now and looks like what it should.
It has PRIMAS stamped in the tank with no other markings there. It also has on the filler cap P. I.in a diamond ,on one side . On the other side is SPECIAL . Than on all 4 burners at the top of them is,  ROYAL KING  Reg 320297 .
The hight of it is 250mm (or 10")  The tank is 220mm (or 9") Fuel capacity is heaps about 1 gallon ( or 4.5 litres ).
At a guess I would say it came out of a hospital were they used it for sterilizing.
The brass tank appears to be made from a thinner gauge brass than the old stoves this to me indicates it would be made around 1970 at the oldest possibly 80s or 90s." - Albert R. White
