Høvik
Verk

Høvik
Verk
Primus
210.
The
company
Høvik
Verk,
placed
at
Høvik
in
the
county
Bærum
near
Oslo,
was
started
in
1855
at
Høvik
Beach.
The
builder
and
first
owner
was
the
Englishman
Thomas
Graham.
By
1880,
the
ownership
had
been
transferred
to
a
Norwegian,
Harald
Berg.
The
main
products
were
glass,
lamps
and
other
types
of
household
equipment,
but
also
camping
stoves.
Høvik
Verk
manufactured
the
210
on
license
for
Primus,
and
was
their
only
export
model.
Most
other
Høvik
Verk
models
were
either
marked
'Standard'
or
had
only
a
number.
The
company
was
officially
disbanded
(divided
into
two
minor
subsidiaries,
actually)
around
1980,
but
the
company
areas
and
remaining
buildings
were
sold
to
Det
Norske
Veritas
already
in
1972.
Although
a
household
name
in
Norway,
there
is
little
information
to
be
found
about
Høvik
Verk
on
the
Internet.
Which
is
why
I'm
building
up
this
particular
page;
contributions
of
information
and
pictures
will
be
highly
appreciated
if
mailed
to
stovecollector@virtually.online.no.
The
Standard
stove
models
has
the
text
below:
On
the
side:
"ETHVERT
STANDARD
KOKEAPPARAT
SELGES
MED
FULL
GARANTI
OG
ER
STEMPLET
STANDARD
HØVIK
VERK.
BENYTT
KUN
RESERVEDELER
MED
DETTE
MERKE."
On
the
top:
"HØVIK
VERK
STANDARD
-
MADE
IN
NORWAY".
Part
of
the
above
information
was

by
